There's nothing like messing about in boats

On August 21st, St Paul's church and Community Centre staff took to the waters of the Thames for a team day out on a lovely summer's day. For the second year running, the group was kindly hosted aboard his beautiful canal boat 'Athos' by owner and skipper Mike Lowe, churchwarden at St Paul's.

The day began at Thames and Kennett Marina from where the intrepid crew set sail upriver towards Caversham Lock, enjoying the River Thames and its variety of wildlife including Grey Herons, Cormorants and Red Kites.  After a lazy lunch stop at Caversham, overlooking the weir, the group navigated 'Athos' back through the centre of Reading to her berth at the marina.

It was a delightful day out, enjoyed by all, which left us looking forward to the next opportunity to get afloat as a group.
