Good Friday Meditations (12.00 noon, 2nd April 2021) will explore the parable of the Prodigal Son
Our time of meditation this Good Friday will be devoted to a contemplation of Jesus's parable of the Prodigal Son. The session, which begins at 12.00 noon, will be led by Norman Allen, Reader, with music from Kevin Jones, Director of Music. Six brief homilies are interspersed by musical interludes of thoughtful, moving fugues by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710-84), the 'prodigal' eldest son of the great Johann Sebastian. The fugues convey the younger Bach's sense of returning to his father. The meditations will take place in church and you are welcome to come and go as you please. The session will also be livestreamed on our YouTube channel St Paul's Wimbledon Parkside, so you can enjoy it from the comfort of your home if you wish.
The Good Friday Meditations will be followed by the Good Friday liturgy, The Final Hour, at 2.00 pm. Led from church by Revd Susan Bolen, Vicar of St Paul's, the Good Friday service will also be broadcast on our YouTube channel.
