Bishop of Kingston leads Holy Communion at St Paul's

The Right Reverend Dr Martin Gainsborough, Bishop of Kingston, presided at Holy Communion at St Paul's on Sunday 13th August (Tenth Sunday after Trinity). Bishop Martin led the congregation in worship and delivered a thoughtful sermon. He was supported by our Vicar Revd Susan Bolen, and Curate Revd Jack Belloli.

After the service, the Bishop chatted with church members over our customary coffee, biscuits and cake. Bishop Martin is not only our Suffragan Bishop, but also a parishioner of St Paul's and we look forward to getting to know him better at many such occasions in the future.

Bishop Martin was consecrated as the new Bishop of Kingston in the Diocese of Southwark at Canterbury Cathedral on Thursday 2nd February 2023.  The service was led by The Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, and attended by bishops, clergy and laity from around the country.  His appointment follows the retirement of his predecessor, The Right Reverend Dr Richard Cheetham, in October last year.
