Parkside Post Easter Edition - available to download here
The Easter Edition of Parkside Post, our parish magazine, is now available. If you live within the parish of St Paul’s Wimbledon Parkside, a paper copy should already have arrived through your letterbox thanks to our group of volunteer distributors. But you can also download a digital copy here.
In this edition, Revd Susan notes the emerging signs of spring in the natural world around us and devotes her Easter message to the theme of death as an intrinsic part of life, exploring how the pattern of death and rebirth is essential to Divine Life. Revd Susan says, “The Easter experience, of death becoming transformed life, is the pattern of all reality – it is the way life works. All of life, constantly adventuring through itself, falling and rising, dying and being part of something new coming forth.” The Christian message of Easter teaches us not to fear this reality.
There is news from St Paul’s Pantry, our community foodbank, including a visit by the Mayor of Wandsworth, Jeremy Ambache, and fundraising success by students at St Cecilia’s. You will also find details of a recent new initiative, our Tabletop Sales on the first Thursday of every month; and an upcoming new activity which is our ‘Wednesday Club’ for 11-14 year-olds to attend after school, due to start very soon.
You also read about progress with the restoration of our carved reredos, screen and great cross, created by the studio of Charles Eamer Kempe and dating from the late 19th Century, like our church. Take the opportunity to watch the skilled craftsmen at work by visiting St Paul’s at any time during Open Church hours (see website and Parkside Post for details). There are details of upcoming concerts and events, a colouring page for the children, and even a recipe for ‘Easy Easter Biscuits’.
We hope you enjoy the edition! Happy Easter!
