Jack joined St Paul's as our curate in June 2023 and quickly established himself as a member of the staff team. In June 2024 he was ordained as priest and continues to work with us until he takes up his appointment as a team vicar in the Parish of Holy Trinity, East Ham in autumn.

Jack has been part of our worship in St Paul's for the last three years. He has been part of the team taking weekly and Sunday services. He has shown he has the ability to communicate with all age groups, visiting the elderly and being part of the youth work team. He is a serious theologian with a fun sense of humour.

He has been an active participant in our interfaith activities as well as being a governor of Albemarle School.

So not only will our church family miss him but also the wider members of the parish. 

However his new role, Jack will be working mainly with the two smaller churches in a team of three: St Bartholomew’s Church and Community Centre, a modern multi-purpose building on the Barking Road right opposite the high street and Newham Town Hall, and St Edmund’s, which occupies the ground floor of a former vicarage. 

It’s something of a return to his roots as his grandmother was born in Little Ilford just north of the parish, part of the first generation of the Italian side of his family to be born in this country.

Without a doubt, Jack will fully immerse himself in the life of his new parish and community at large as he has here at St Paul’s.

As much as I’m looking forward to a new start, I’ll miss the community here very much. But I could only have been set up for the kinds of things I’ll be prioritising in my new parish – working closely with groups in the centre, strengthening community well-being, developing interfaith dialogue – because of the kinds of work that I’ve had the chance to do alongside you all here. So thank you for all the support and patience that’s enabled me to take this next step with confidence and joy – and please come and see me if you find yourself at the other end of the District Line!
